TIAA Annuities

TIAA, the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America, was created by The Carnegie Foundation in 1918, to provide guaranteed retirement income and life insurance to educators. TIAA established College Retirement Equities Fund (CREF), to offer the nation’s first variable annuity in 1952, when it became known as TIAA-CREF.  The company was renamed TIAA in 2016. In 2018, it was ranked #7 in total annuity sales, offering variable annuities through employer retirement plans and variable and fixed annuities to individuals. Its ratings are among the highest in the industry:  A++ (A.M. Best), AAA (Fitch), Aa1 (Moody’s) and AA+ (Standard & Poor’s).
